"For The Kids!" Pittsburgh Children's Hospital 2011
(Special Thanks To Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball, Michelle Mejia, Mr. Paul & Jessica Maholm)
Why am I helping Pittsburgh Children's Hospital? I was born with a club foot and i did't think i would walk. They helped me to walk and play baseball. I had to wear a cast on my leg & foot everyday till I was 8 months old, then I had surgery and had to wear a special shoe and brace! They helped me! The Day Of The Game - A Poem By Me!
I had to write a poem for school.
The day of the game
By Elliot Mast
On the pitchers mound I see my dream come true in front of me.
In the batter’s box my dream is becoming a reality.
I hit the ball it soars through the sky I hear the crowd gasp and cry “He did it” “He did it”.
A homerun it has begun my dream come true my day in the sun.
Many more days like this I pray as the sun warms my face.
In this home of bats and balls I sit on the bench and Know here I cannot fall.
I hear them call number “12” You’re up to bat My hat holds in the thoughts I can’t deny this ball has got to hit the sky.
Another cry look how high this ball again has cleared the sky.

THE CHALLENGE!
Dear Friends, I CHALLENGE YOU!
I visited the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh on Friday. I was a little sad, touched, excited, and challenged. I want to challenge YOU today! If you read this, I ask that you forward this message (Tweet It, Linkedin It, Email It, Blog It, and Facebook It) to all your friends and donate one dollar $1 to help the kids at Children's Hospital. Let's see how many people can make a difference in the lives of kids who need your help!
I have dedicated my entire 2010 baseball season to the kids at the hospital to raise awareness and funds for them and the vital Child Life Program. The department of Child Life is responsible for making sure the kids' hospital experience is fun and not so scary. They help provide things like games, toys, video games, etc. There are often events in the hospital to provide entertainment and distraction for kid-patients. They do things like tail-gates, celebrity visits, and music/performance shows for the inpatients. While being in a hospital can be really scary, the Child Life department does their best to make the experience as fun and memorable (in a good way) as possible. They have playrooms on every floor and dedicated staff that work with the kids on projects and "fun time". The playrooms are medical-free zones - so no medicine, no doctors, no reports, nothing scary - it's all play, all the time! This is a really important part of the recovery and healing process for the kids and while insurance doesn't cover these types of necessities, they will always offer them - the kids need it and that's the most important thing. This is why we need you! So basically, money raised for this fund makes sure that kids can still be kids - and not just patients - when they're at Children’s Hospital.
Please join me by donating $1 to the hospital today. Here is how you can help: Donations Are Being Collected During The Entire Baseball Season:

PRE-SEASON NEWSPAPER COVERAGE!!!
Sunday Altoona Mirror Newspaper...Elliot Mast, 10 pitches to A.J. Labriola, 9 as Mast's father, Don, catches Saturday on 22nd Avenue. They practiced their skills, and the pitcher would throw to the "batter" who would either swing or stand still. But the batter didn't have a bat. If the pitcher missed the catcher's glove, he would have to chase after the ball...Saturday, November 22, 2008

My First Minor League Pitch!

Wow, this was a dream come true...
Tonight was a great night! I threw out the first pitch during the Altoona Curve Minor League Baseball game! I think it was a strike. My dad took a picture and added video from this special night. I was soooo nervous and excited! I did my best to represent East End Baseball and Caporuscio's Team! When I threw the pitch, it didn't feel like it was that far to throw. From the mound to the plate was an easy throw for me... It was cool! Thank You Curve for a great night...

I hope to come back some day and pitch for a MLB minor league team!

The 2008 Little League World Series!

We had lots of fun at the Little League World Series In Williamsport, Pa! This is the "BIG SHOW!" Many of the teams we saw worked soooo hard to make it to this big game. We watched Japan, Mexico, Italy, Southwest US, and Great Lakes US all play action packed games. These teams play hard. We had fun sliding down the huge mountain out beyond center field and it was a good time with great friends. I hope to play here someday! My dad and I waited at the ESPN talent tent and we met and received autographs from Cy Young Award Winner & MLB World Series Pitcher & Winner for the LA Dodger Orel Hershiser. His autograph is above for you to enjoy... I also had my picture taken by Kelloggs Frosted Flakes during the games and they turned the picture into a cool baseball card. We had such a blast watching baseball and spending time with friends! Learn more about the Little League World Series by visiting http://www.littleleague.org/Little_League_Online.htm PLAY BALL!

My Science Fair Project!

Here is my Science Project from my School Science Fair. My project was titled "Best Of Bats!" Here are the project details.
Testable Question: Which bat hits real baseballs long distances to help me win games?
Hypothosis: I feel that the Vexxum Double-Wall bat is a better bat to help me win baseball games.
Research: I researched the following companies on the web:
A: http://www.demarini.com/
B: http://www.nike.com/
C: http://worthsports.com/
I am working on a research display that shows what is inside a composite aluminum little league bat.
Materials: Baseballs, Three Baseball Bats: Worth Bat, Nike Keystone Bat, DeMarini Vexxum Bat, Batting Gloves, Home Plate, Baseball Field, Measuring Tap, Note Pad, Pencil, Ball Bucket, Baseball Hat, and My Dad To Pitch To Me.
Procedures: I conducted an experiment on location at a baseball field near my house. I hit three times with each bat and measured the distance for each hit and then found the average distance for each bat. My dad threw each baseball to me.
Experiment: Please see attached page. I am drawing a nice display to share the results… This second page is the results and notes from the experiment.
Data/Results: Hit 1 Hit 2 Hit 3
Results from each bat (distance for each hit)
Keystone Bat 87ft 119ft 100ft
Worth Bat 89ft 110ft 98ft
Demarini Vexxum 129ft 143ft 194ft
Hypothosis: I feel that the Vexxum Double-Wall bat is a better bat to help me win baseball games.
